Birdsedge Challenge
6m Multi-Terrain Race

76 runners took part in the Birdsedge Challenge over a 6 miles multi-terrain course, in warm and sunny conditions. Shaun Dimelow of Barnsley Harriers (pictured right) repeated his 2010 success winning in 33:53, beating last year's time by 3 seconds. David Thompson of Barnsley AC was second, with John Broom of Barnsley Harriers third and Ross McClelland of home Club Denby Dale Travellers (pictured below right) finishing fourth.
The ladies rave was won by Pauline Griffin of Barnsley Harriers who finished 12th overall in 41:07. Dawn Broom, also of Barnsley Harriers was second lady with Nichola Sykes of Denby Dale (pictured below right) in third place.
In the team competitions it was a clean sweep for Barnsley Harriers, with Shaun Dimelow, John Broom and Lee Smith winning the men's team prize and Pauline Griffin, Dawn Broom and Linda Walton winning the ladies team competition. Full results are available by following the link on this page.
Mickleden Straddle Fell Race 2012
10.30am - Sunday 5 February starting and finishing at Langsett Barn car park.

The race distance is 14.3m, with 2431ft of climb (category BL). The course is the same as in past years but has been re-measured, so the advertised race distance and ascent are slightly changed.
A record field of 193 runners took part in the 2011 race which was won by Tom Brunt of Holmfirth Harriers in an exclellent time of 1:46:27, with Jon Morgan and Mark Tuckett, both of Dark Peak, finishing 2nd and 3rd.
Nicky Spinks made it a good day for Dark Peak, winning the ladies race in 2:14:48. For full results of the 2011 race, follow the link on this page.

Travellers 6 Road Race 2011
The Travellers 6 Road Race took place on Sunday 18 December, in bright and cold conditions that were ideal for running. A field of 168 runners completed the course, with David Thompson of Barnsley AC a convincing winner in an excellent time of 33.44. Richard Anderson of Holmfirth Harriers came in second, with Joseph Mann of Penistone FPR taking third place. Ross McClelland was the first Traveller home, finising 9th in 37.50.
Kaeti McKenzie made it a double for Barnsley AC, winning the ladies race in 40.15, ahead of Amy Green of Keighley and Craven and Jacqui Khoueiry of Holmfirth. Lesley Leggett was the first Traveller, taking 4th place in 42.12.
