The Club Fell championship starts on 1 April each year. There are 3 'short’ events, 3 'medium' and 3 'long'. The first Traveller to finish in each event scores 10 points, the second 9 etc. In addition to the overall men’s and ladies championships, there are also vets (over 40) and supervets (over 50) categories.
Up to 5 nominated races can count; 1 short, 1 medium and 1 long, plus your best 2 other races. The races nominated by Fell captain Richard Howard for the 2011/12 championship are listed right.

The Sedbergh Hills race on Sunday 21 August was the fourth race in the Club Fell championship. As well as being part of the DDT championship, the race formed part of the FRA English/British fell championship, attracting a field of 33 top fell runners.
Dave Gill was the first Traveller to finish in this gruelling event over 14 miles with 6000ft of climb. Dave ran well finishing 245th in 3:22:46, finishing ahead of Richard Howard and Steve Blackford, with Chirstine Blackford our first lady finisher completing the course in 3:34:54.

Nine travellers struggled with the
Struggle (some more than others!) on a glorious Sunday morning (18th September). The
route starts in Hathersage and goes steeply up to Stanage Edge where you get a
breather and fine views as you bobble along the edge before a steep descent
through bracken, a bit of road, fields, woods; finishing with a slight
sting in the tail.
A good time was had by all those taking part with Simon Browne the first Traveller home finishing 42nd in 46:49, with Jo Worboys our first lady finisher in 56:01. Afterwards, those who didn't run off too
quickly helped celebrate Rosalind's birthday with an excellent home made chocolate cake!
The Trigger Race is a new fell race for 2012 taking place on Sunday 15 January. The event is over a 20 mile course and 4500ft of climb with runners navigating their way from Marsden to Edale via Black Hill, Bleaklow and Kinder, taking in 3 trig points on the route. Not a race for the faint hearted! Entry forms and further details are available on the organisers web site:
11.30am - Sun 26 Feb
Please note that the Ilkley Moor fell race is pre-entry only and there will be no entries on the day. Entry forms should be available after 1 February on the Ilkley Harrier web site and hopefully here also.
